Lifetime has cast Tony Award winner Joaquina Kalukango, known for her role in Lawmen: Bass Reeves, to star as Gloria Gaynor in the biopic I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story. Joining her, Lance Gross (Tyler Perry’s House of Payne) will play Gaynor's husband, Linwood Simon. Part of the "Voices of a Lifetime" series, the film is slated for release in 2025 and will also include biopics on Mary J. Blige and Lisa Lisa.

Marlon Wayans just announced the return of the ‘Scary Movie’ franchise via his Instagram account today. He attributed the decision of it’s return to the demand from the fans. Marlon Wayans had this to say:

”WE’RE BACK!!! After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to
the SCARY MOVIE franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are set to reunite for a new jungle adventure as Sony Pictures announces the release of Jumanji 3 on December 11, 2026. Johnson and Hart, who led the previous two films with Jack Black and Karen Gillan, are expected to return, alongside director Jake Kasdan. The movie promises a larger-than-life experience with screenings planned in IMAX and premium large formats.

Zoë Kravitz has joined the exciting ensemble cast of Alpha Gang, a unique sci-fi comedy directed by the Zellner brothers, who are known for their acclaimed indie hit Sasquatch Sunset. It has just been announced that a sequel to the 1999 film Blue Streak is in early development. Cole Maliska is currently penning the screenplay, though additional casting or production details have yet to be announced.

This fall, Hulu presents a documentary about one of the most intriguing figures in both Hip Hop and politics. ‘The Honorable Shyne’ is co-executive produced by David Dennis, Jr. and Justin Tinsley, and directed by Marcus A. Clarke. The film details Shyne’s buzzing music career in the late 1990s, his incarceration following charges for a high-profile nightclub shooting in New York City, and his redemptive return home to his native country, Belize, where he pursued a successful career in politics.

The trailer for Keke Palmer and SZA's new R-rated comedy One of Them Days, directed by Lawrence Lamont, has just dropped. The film is set to hit theaters on January 24, 2025.

Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat and Robin Roberts’ Rock’n Robin Productions have partnered to executive produce A King Like Me, a documentary that shines a light on the Zulu Krewe, a historic Black cultural organization in New Orleans. This collaboration was announced by Highly Flammable Productions following the film’s premiere at the 35th Annual New Orleans Film Festival, where it served as the opening night feature.

Omar J. Dorsey has signed with Gersh for representation. Dorsey recently co-starred as Ray in HBO Max’s sports comedy series Bookie, created by Chuck Lorre. The second season of the show, featuring Sebastian Maniscalco, is slated for release in December.

Jurassic World fans are in for another thrilling adventure! Universal Pictures will release the newest installment of the Jurassic World franchise, ‘Jurassic World Rebirth,’ in theaters July 2025. Two-time Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali, along with Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, join the cast for another action-packed expedition among the colossal reptiles. The film is written by David Koepp and directed by award-winning filmmaker Gareth Edwards. ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Denis L. Stewart, and Jim Spencer, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley serving as producers.

Colman Domingo is set to make his feature directorial debut with Scandalous, a Miramax drama that explores the secret love affair between 1950s film star Kim Novak and singer-actor Sammy Davis Jr. Sydney Sweeney will portray Novak, and David Jonsson will play Davis Jr. Filming is expected to begin after Domingo and Sweeney wrap up Season 3 of HBO’s Euphoria.

Marvel Studios' Blade will no longer hit theaters on November 7, 2025. Instead, Disney will release 20th Century Studios’ Predator: Badlands on that date.

Academy Award nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor has completed filming Liz Here Now, a new indie drama directed by Sterling Macer Jr. Set in 1967, the film follows Liz Baxter (Ellis-Taylor), a nanny for a white family in Oakland, California, during the rise of the Black Panther Party. When Liz discovers the children she cares for are being mistreated by their mother (played by Twilight's Rachelle Lefevre), her efforts to protect them lead to accusations of involvement in a Black Panther conspiracy.
