Colman Domingo To Direct ‘Scandalous’ In Directorial Debut; Sydney Sweeney To Play Kim Novak, And David Jonsson As Sammy Davis Jr.

Colman Domingo is set to make his feature directorial debut with Scandalous, a Miramax drama that explores the secret love affair between 1950s film star Kim Novak and singer-actor Sammy Davis Jr. Sydney Sweeney will portray Novak, and David Jonsson will play Davis Jr. Filming is expected to begin after Domingo and Sweeney wrap up Season 3 of HBO’s Euphoria.

Sweeney, who has taken an active role in the project, will also produce alongside Tani Cohen and Bobby Roth, with Jon Levin serving as executive producer. The script was written by Matthew Fantaci.

Domingo, known for his standout performances in Rustin and Sing Sing, is also developing a film about Nat King Cole, which he will star in and direct. In addition, he's involved in multiple projects, including Netflix’s The Four Seasons and The Madness, and he will play Joe Jackson in an upcoming Michael Jackson biopic. His stage production Lights Out: Nat King Cole will premiere at the New York Theater Workshop following a previous run at the Geffen Theater.

Sweeney is represented by Paradigm, while Domingo is repped by WME and Liebman Entertainment. Jonsson, who recently appeared in Industry and Alien: Romulus, is repped by CAA and United Agents. His next major project is The Long Walk, directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Stephen King's novel.
