Tubi Greenlights Four Stubios Projects, Including Film With TikTok Star Kelon Campbell As Terri Joe
Tubi has announced four new projects through Stubios, a fan-driven studio designed to support aspiring filmmakers. In partnership with Issa Rae’s ColorCreative, the platform also provides mentorship to help these up-and-coming creators bring their ideas to life.
One of the standout projects is a feature film from TikTok star Kelon Campbell, who will debut her viral character, Terri Joe. The dramedy follows Terri as she leaves her small town to explore the world and confront whether it’s as sinful as her parents and pastor warned.
Another project, Mo' Waffles, is a half-hour scripted comedy about a new diner in Atlanta’s competitive restaurant scene. The show stars TikTok duo Grant Gibbs and Ashley Gill, along with content creator Robin Jordan, known for her comedic takes on restaurant life.
The fourth project, Jokes On Us: New Voices in Comedy, is a special airing on December 5th, showcasing 15-minute sets from comedians Cris Sosa, Daniela Mora, and Grant Moore.
Issa Rae expressed her excitement about mentoring these creators, emphasizing the importance of resources and support. "It has been fulfilling to work with these Stubios runners," Rae said, adding that the partnership between Tubi and ColorCreative is aimed at fast-tracking the careers of these promising talents.
Additionally, 14 participants have been chosen to compete for a fan-driven greenlight on Stubios. The first project to reach 15,000 engagements will be greenlit. If no one reaches that goal within three weeks, the top project on the leaderboard will win the greenlight.
