‘The Honorable Shyne’ Documentary Coming To Hulu November 18
The sun don’t shine forever, but as long as Moses is here, he’ll be “Shyne” forever. These words resonate in the new documentary, ‘The Honorable Shyne’ based on the story of the Grammy Award-winning former rap star and current politician, Moses “Shyne” Barrow. This fall, Hulu presents a documentary about one of the most intriguing figures in both Hip Hop and politics. ‘The Honorable Shyne’ is co-executive produced by David Dennis, Jr. and Justin Tinsley, and directed by Marcus A. Clarke. The film details Shyne’s buzzing music career in the late 1990s, his incarceration following charges for a high-profile nightclub shooting in New York City, and his redemptive return home to his native country, Belize, where he pursued a successful career in politics.
The trailer for the documentary summarizes his incredible journey of redemption. The trailer begins with a collage of pictures showing the talented rap artist in his prime. This is followed by a reflection from Barrow on how his bike rides over the Brooklyn Bridge inspired many of his raps, while narrative contributors recall their admiration for his rhyming talent and his appeal to record labels. Moses “Shyne” Barrow eventually signed with Bad Boys Records where he became a millionaire and had a successful career until an unexpected turn of events—a shooting in a high-profile New York City nightclub. In Barrow’s own words, he was “set up to be the fall guy.” The film provides a closer look into Barrow’s turmoil during his 10-year prison sentence and his incredible pivot into politics where he now serves as the leader of the Belize United Democratic Party and the Leader of the Opposition in the Belize House of Representatives.
This film features narrative contributions from Moses “Shyne” Barrow himself, along with his family, Barrington Levy, Don Pooh, Faith Evans, Kevin Liles, DJ Khaled, Noreaga, Charlamagne tha God, and more.
Additional producers for the film include Jason Perez, with executive producers Dwayne Bray, Talitha Watkins, Jason Aidoo, Carolina Groppa, Angela Augustus, James Shani, Ameer Collier, and Steve Carless.
Be sure to tune into this remarkable story of sacrifice, humanity, integrity, honor, and redemption.
