The Critics Choice Association’s seventh annual Celebration of Black Cinema and Television will honor Tyler Perry, Regina King, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Malcolm D. Lee for their remarkable contributions to the industry. Set for December 9 at Los Angeles' Fairmont Century Plaza and hosted by comedian Jay Pharoah, the event will air on Starz in January 2025 and be nationally broadcast in February in celebration of Black History Month.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor Set To Star In Indie Drama ‘Liz Here Now’
Academy Award nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor has completed filming Liz Here Now, a new indie drama directed by Sterling Macer Jr. Set in 1967, the film follows Liz Baxter (Ellis-Taylor), a nanny for a white family in Oakland, California, during the rise of the Black Panther Party. When Liz discovers the children she cares for are being mistreated by their mother (played by Twilight's Rachelle Lefevre), her efforts to protect them lead to accusations of involvement in a Black Panther conspiracy.

In the new semi-autobiographical drama ,‘Exhibiting Forgiveness,’ director Titus Kaphar wrestles with the complexity and challenges of forgiveness in his debut film. In the trailer, protagonist Tarrell (André Holland) cares for his family as he works to achieve success as an artistic painter. His path is shaken by a visit from his estranged father, La’Ron (John Earl Jelks), who seeks to reconcile their relationship after overcoming his crack addiction. When Tarrell is confronted by his father, he faces a dilemma: deal with it here or let the unforgiveness follow him home with his family.
