Keke Palmer To Star In Comedy ‘The Backup,’ Set To Produce Alongside Kevin Hart
Keke Palmer, the talented actress who recently starred in Jordan Peele's "Nope," is set to produce and star in the upcoming feature comedy "The Backup" at Universal Pictures. This project will also see Kevin Hart on board as a producer. Written by Chris Brew and Jordan Gouveia, the film follows Ben, a player who decides to settle down with his childhood friend Alyssa, played by Palmer. However, Alyssa drops the bombshell that she is engaged to a handsome billionaire and asks Ben to be her best man. In an effort to win her back, Ben and his friends head to Maui to outshine the fiancé and show Alyssa that he is the one for her.
This project will be produced by Hartbeat's Bryan Smiley, Keke Palmer and Sharon Palmer under their Big Boss Entertainment banner, and Autumn Bailey-Ford through her company Autumn Bailey Entertainment. Patricia Braga and Kayla Stamps will serve as executive producers for Hartbeat. Palmer is currently one of the most in-demand talents in Hollywood. Last year, she starred opposite Daniel Kaluuya in "Nope," which grossed over $171M worldwide. Palmer is also set to star in David O. Russell's next film "Super Toys" alongside Sacha Baron Cohen and in the Bert-directed action-comedy "Moxie" for Amazon.
