Wilmer Valderrama Signs Exclusive First Look Deal With Telemundo’s TPlus Brand

Wilmer Valderrama

In an exciting development for the Hispanic entertainment industry, Wilmer Valderrama's production company, WV Entertainment, has entered into an exclusive first-look deal with Telemundo's TPlus brand. The partnership aims to bring captivating TV projects led by Hispanic talent to SVOD (Subscription Video On Demand) platforms worldwide, catering to the underserved Hispanic audience. With WV Entertainment's commitment to uplifting and showcasing stories from LatinX and underrepresented communities across traditional media and podcasts, this collaboration is set to make a significant impact on the landscape of Hispanic entertainment.

Romina Rosado, EVP and General Manager, Hispanic Streaming, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, shared her excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the mission of TPlus to create content for the rapidly expanding number of Hispanics who live across cultures, languages, and screens. Despite driving the majority of domestic streaming growth, this audience has long been underserved. The addition of WV Entertainment, with its team led by Wilmer Valderrama and SVP of Production & Development Jessica Acevedo, is a natural fit as they bring both a wealth of storytelling experience and a fresh perspective that resonates with modern Latino audiences.

The collaboration between TPlus and WV Entertainment represents a commitment to authentic and relevant storytelling. By joining forces, they aim to create premium content that reflects the experiences and aspirations of the Hispanic community. The intention is to bridge cultural gaps and provide representation for LatinX individuals and other underrepresented groups. Through this partnership, TPlus and WV Entertainment seek to highlight the rich diversity and talent within the Hispanic community, bringing their stories to life on various streaming platforms.

This recent collaboration is not the only foray into the world of Hispanic entertainment for Wilmer Valderrama. Last year, he teamed up with Lawrence Bender as executive producers for the Telemundo series, Keep This To Yourself, an adaptation of Tom Ryan's YA thriller. In addition, Valderrama became a shareholder in iHeartMedia's My Cultura Podcast Network, where he curates a collection of Latinx-focused podcasts. He has also committed to executive producing and starring in five new shows for the network.

Looking ahead, Valderrama, alongside Eric I. Lu, is working on developing a drama series based on Anthony Almojera's memoir, Riding the Lightning: A Year in the Life of a New York City Paramedic, for CBS Studios. Furthermore, he is involved in the development of a reimagined Zorro TV series for Disney+ as an executive producer and star, showcasing his versatility and dedication to creating compelling content across various platforms.

The exclusive partnership between Wilmer Valderrama's WV Entertainment and Telemundo's TPlus brand marks an important milestone in Hispanic entertainment. By leveraging their respective expertise, the collaboration aims to empower Hispanic storytellers and bring their narratives to a global audience. With WV Entertainment's commitment to highlighting the stories of LatinX and underrepresented communities, viewers can look forward to a diverse range of premium content that authentically represents their experiences and aspirations. As additional TPlus Latino production talent deals are expected to be announced soon, the future of Hispanic-led entertainment looks brighter than ever before.
