Wendell Pierce To Play Perry White In James Gunn’s ‘Superman Legacy’

James Gunn's upcoming Superman film, titled 'Superman Legacy,' has chosen Wendell Pierce to play Perry White, the chief editor at the Daily Planet. Filming began on Thursday in Atlanta, GA, with a release date set for July 11, 2025.

Perry White first appeared in a Superman radio show in 1940. He is known as the boss of Clark Kent and Lois Lane, with different portrayals ranging from a tough cynic to a wise father-like figure by various actors in past Superman movies.

Some actors who have played Perry White include Jackie Cooper, Frank Langella, and Laurence Fishburne in previous Superman films. Pierce, known for his roles in TV series like 'The Wire,' 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan,' and 'Power Book III: Raising Kanan,' will be joining the star-studded cast which includes David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, among others.
