‘The Life Of Chuck’ Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Carl Lumbly, Tom Hiddleston, And More Hits Theaters This June

‘The Life of Chuck’ is set to hit theaters this June, bringing the fiction fan-favorite to life on the big screen. The film is based on renowned, award-winning author Stephen King’s 2020 book, ‘If It Bleeds.’ The novella tells a reverse biography of Charles Krantz through three interconnected stories, beginning with his death at 39 from a brain tumor and ending with his childhood in a supposedly haunted house. 

Premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024, the film adaptation of ‘The Life of Chuck’ captivated audiences and won the People’s Choice Award. Written and directed by Mike Flanagan, the film boasts a star-studded cast that includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Carl Lumbly, Tom Hiddleston, Annalise Basso, Benjamin Pajak, Karen Gillan, Mia Sara, Matthew Lillard, Samantha Sloyan, Harvey Guillén, Jacob Tremblay, Kate Siegel, and Mark Hamill.

Ejiofor’s, Lumbly’s, and Hiddleston’s careers span diverse, award-winning, blockbuster franchises in film and television. Chiwetel Ejiofor starred in Amistad (1997), Dirty Pretty Things (2003), Love Actually (2003), Kinky Boots (2005), Four Brothers (2005), Endgame (2009), 2012 (2009), Salt (2010), and Venom: The Last Dance (2024). He also starred in 12 Years a Slave (2013), which earned him a BAFTA Award for Best Actor and an Academy Award nomination. Ejiofor joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2016 for Doctor Strange and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022). He is also credited for voicing Scar in The Lion King (2019) among other achievements in the film industry. In 2019, he wrote, directed, and starred in his feature directorial debut, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind (2019).

Carl Lumbly starred in Back to the Streets of San Francisco (1992), M.A.N.T.I.S. (1994), EZ Streets (1996), America’s Dream (1996), How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998), Little Richard (2000), Namibia: The Struggle for Liberation (2007), and Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool (2019) among other culturally relevant films and stories. Lumbly is also credited for his voice acting in the DC Animated Universe, and for playing the first Black super soldier in MCU in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021). Most recently, he starred in MCU’s Captain America: Brave New World (2025).

Tom Hiddleston starred in Suburban Shootout (2006- 2007), Return to Cranford (2009), Exhibition (2013), and The Night Manager (2016), which earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor. He’s widely known for his notorious film roles in the MCU including Thor (2011), The Avengers (2012), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Black Widow (2021), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and his Disney+ spin-off series, Loki (2021).
