Mara Brock Akil’s new drama series ‘Forever’ finally has an official release date! The highly anticipated series is set to premiere May 8 on Netflix and is part of Akil’s overall Netflix deal. Academy Award winner Regina King has reportedly directed the first episode, and she is also credited as one of the executive producers for the show. The series, starring Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr., is an eponymous contemporary adaptation and reimagining of Judy Blume’s classic 1975 novel about a budding romance between two teens.

Set for December 9 at Los Angeles' Fairmont Century Plaza and hosted by comedian Jay Pharoah, the event will air on Starz in January 2025 and be nationally broadcast in February in celebration of Black History Month.
