Snowfall Spinoff Starring Gail Bean And Isaiah John Moves Forward With Pilot Order At FX

Gail Bean Isaiah John Snowfall

FX has officially greenlit a pilot for the Snowfall spinoff, marking a major step toward expanding the acclaimed series.

Set in 1990s Los Angeles, the untitled drama follows Wanda Bell-Simmons (Gail Bean), a recovering addict determined to push West Coast rap into the mainstream while navigating the dangers of an ongoing gang war. Isaiah John will also reprise his role as Leon Simmons.

Malcolm Spellman (Bel-Air, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) is set to write and executive produce alongside Snowfall veterans Dave Andron, Thomas Schlamme, Julie DeJoie, Michael London, and Trevor Engelson. FX Productions is behind the project.

Originally created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Andron, Snowfall ran for six seasons (2017–2023), chronicling the devastating crack cocaine epidemic in South Central L.A. The series followed Franklin Saint (Damson Idris), CIA agent Teddy McDonald, and cartel enforcer Gustavo “El Oso” Zapata as their worlds collided in the drug trade.

With a strong creative team and returning cast members, the spinoff looks to build on Snowfall’s legacy while exploring a new chapter in L.A.’s history.
