Ryan Destiny Sizzles In New Film ‘The Fire Inside’ In Theaters December 25

This girl is on fireeee! is the only way to describe Ryan Destiny’s riveting performance in Amazon MGM’s new film, ‘The Fire Inside,’ written by Academy Award-winner Barry Jenkins and directed by Academy Award-nominee Rachel Morrison. This film is a sports drama biopic that details the life and athletic journey of Claressa “T-Rex” Shields; a talented, history-making boxer from Flint, Michigan who trained vigorously to become the first woman in the country to win an Olympic gold medal in the sport.

In the film’s trailer, Claressa Shields (Ryan Destiny) is enthralled by the world of boxing. As a young girl in 2012, she enters a local boxing gym where Coach Jason Crutchfield (Brian Tyree Henry) offers her formal training that eventually leads her to an Olympic gold medal. The trailer is interjected by scenes showcasing the grit, skill, and dedication of the young boxer, as well as the sacrifices she makes for the sport. With promises to pay her mother’s (Olunike Adeliyi) bills and move her younger sister Briana (Shechinah Mpumlwana) into their own place, Claressa stops at nothing to bring home the gold medal. But when the gold medal does not immediately translate to gold riches, how does Claressa handle the troubles that stand between her and her second Olympic medal?

The film is based on the inspirational true story of Flint, Michigan’s legend—2x Olympic gold medalist and heavyweight champion of the world, Claressa Shields. The star-studded cast includes performances by Jazmin Headley, Kylee D. Allen, Brian Tyree Henry, Olunike Adeliyi, Bobby Daniels, De’Adre Aziza, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Adam Clark, Lanette Ware, and more.

May the fire inside of Destiny’s knockout performance light the furnace on Christmas Day.

‘The Fire Inside’ in theaters December 25th.
