Malia Obama Won An Award At The 50th Annual Deauville American Film Festival In France For Short Film, ‘The Heart,’ She Directed
Malia Obama, the 26-year-old daughter of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, recently won the Young Spirit Award for her directorial debut, a short film titled The Heart. In the film's credits, she opted to use only her first and middle names, Malia Ann, leaving out her well-known last name.
For the occasion, Malia made a rare red carpet appearance, wearing a stylish plaid Vivienne Westwood top paired with a high-low skirt and knee-high burgundy boots. Despite her confident appearance, she admitted to feeling nervous about the experience, sharing in a TikTok clip with Paris Match that it was her first time doing something like this, describing herself as "a little bit terrified, but mostly excited."
The Heart is an 18-minute film that tells the story of a man grieving his mother while grappling with her final wish. The film premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
