Ahmir 'Questlove' Thompson, the six-time Grammy-winning musician and director of the Oscar-winning documentary "Summer of Soul," is set to make his feature film directing debut with a live-action hybrid reimagining of Disney's "The Aristocats."

Thompson will direct, serve as executive producer, and oversee music for the film. Will Gluck and Keith Bunin are writing the script, with Gluck's production company, Olive Bridge, and Thompson's Two One Five Entertainment producing. Tarik Trotter, Shawn Gee, and Zarah Zohlman will executive produce on behalf of Two One Five Entertainment.

The original 1970 animated film followed a family of Parisian cats who learn that they are set to inherit a fortune from their owner. But when the owner's jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them in the country, the cats must team up with a smooth-talking tomcat to try to make it back home before it's too late.

After winning the Grand Jury Prize at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival with "Summer of Soul," which documented the 1969 Harlem Cultural festival, Thompson had been exploring his options for his next project. Ultimately, he landed on "The Aristocats" for his feature film directing debut. Thompson is represented by WME and manager Shawn Gee.
