Pharrell Williams & Michel Gondry’s New Film ‘Golden,’ Starring Kelvin Harrison Jr. & Halle Bailey Coming To Theaters 2025
Pharrell Williams is set to continue his cinematic journey next year with the new coming-of-age story, ‘Golden,’ directed by Academy Award winner Michel Gondry. The film stars SAG Award winner Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Grammy Award nominee Halle Bailey.
‘Golden’ is set in Virginia Beach, Virginia during the summer of 1977, a time marked by a vibrant Black cultural renaissance defined by creativity, music, and the arts. Williams says ‘Golden’ is a “musical expedition” that captures the essence of the neighborhood in which he grew up. Differing from his recent LEGO movie ‘Piece by Piece,’ which debuted last month and focused on his personal story, ‘Golden’ highlights the neighborhood atmosphere that sparked his extraordinary creativity.
Fans can expect Williams and Gondry to represent the character and the heart of his childhood neighborhood which housed his Atlantis Apartments residence, showing the world how vibrant his community was in the 1970s. ‘Golden’ marks the first collaboration between Williams and Gondry.
Additional star features in the film include Da'vine Joy Randolph, Brian Tyree Henry, Quinta Brunson, Janelle Monáe, Anderson. Paak, Missy Elliott, and more.
‘Golden’ is set to be released in theaters by Universal Pictures in May 2025.
