Lashan Browning Launches Production Company ‘Antoinette Media’ with MTV Studios

Antoinette Media, a production company launched in 2020 by Lashan Browning, has secured a “substantial equity investment” from Paramount. Browning, who produces seven series for MTV Entertainment Studios, including three of the Love & Hip Hop franchise, will retain a majority stake in the company. Antoinette Media produces ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,’ ‘Love & Hip Hop Miami,’ ‘Love & Hip Hop Family Reunion,’ ‘Couples Retreat,’ ‘Caught in the Act: Unfaithful,’ ‘Shaunie & Keion: Destination I Do,’ and ‘Run it Back,’ and has scripted and unscripted projects in development.

Browning was tapped by Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios, in 2020 to grow its content slate produced by BIPOC- and women-owned production companies. The deal gave her funding, production infrastructure, services, and staff. Before launching Antoinette Media, Browning was Principal of Nola Global Entertainment, which produced series including TLC’s Starter Wives Confidential. She also worked under Spike Lee on commercials for Nike and Levi’s and was Co-Principal of Red Moxie Productions, which produced Spike TV’s Ride with Funkmaster Flex.

Paramount’s investment comes as the company is exploring the sale of a majority stake in one of its other diverse businesses, BET, which includes BET, its streaming service, and VH1. Tyler Perry and Byron Allen are among those eyeing a move.
