‘Ice Age 6’ Set To Return With Original Cast Including John Leguizamo And Queen Latifah

Disney and 20th Century Animation have officially announced Ice Age 6 at the D23 event in Brazil. This new installment marks the first Ice Age film since Disney acquired Blue Sky Animation, the original studio behind the franchise, through its merger with 20th Century Fox.

Beloved cast members Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg are set to return, bringing back the classic crew of Manny, Sid, Ellie, Diego, and Buck. The film is currently in production, although Disney has yet to confirm if it will be a theatrical release.

The Ice Age franchise has been a significant box-office success, earning over $3.2 billion across five films. However, the most recent entry, Ice Age: Collision Course, saw a dip, grossing $408.5 million. Alongside the main films, the franchise has spawned several shorts and series, including The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild in 2022.

The journey of Ice Age began in 2002 under the direction of Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha, with the original film grossing $383.3 million. The franchise’s peak came in 2009 with Dawn of the Dinosaurs, which brought in a record-breaking $886 million worldwide. Now, with Ice Age 6, Disney looks to revive this beloved prehistoric adventure for a new generation.
