DeWanda Wise To Star In Film Adaptation Of David Crowson’s Graphic Novel, ‘Killer Bee’
DeWanda Wise is set to lead Killer Bee, an upcoming action film based on David Crownson’s graphic novel. The project will be produced and co-financed by Tommy Oliver’s Confluential Films, a Black-owned, award-winning production company.
Wise, known for Jurassic World Dominion and Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It, will play a retiring assassin forced to confront a powerful underground network when she's assigned to eliminate the man she loves. The script is penned by Kevin Arbouet (Move: The Untold Story of an American Tragedy) and Oscar-nominated Terry Rossio (Pirates of the Caribbean, Shrek).
Oliver expressed excitement about the project, highlighting its compelling team and source material.
Confluential Films continues its strong slate, following its Emmy-winning Going To Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project (HBO) and Fancy Dance (Apple TV+). The company recently launched its horror label, New Fear Unlocked Productions, with Goons, starring Michael Rainey Jr. and Chloe Bailey, wrapping production.
Wise will also executive produce alongside Crownson, Jake Coburn, and Cultivate Entertainment Partners’ Sean Mik’ael Butler and Patrick Strøm.
