Danielle Deadwyler Set To Star In Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Parallel,’ Also Starring Aldis And Edwin Hodge

Danielle Deadwyler, known for her breakout performance in ‘The Harder They Fall,’ as well as her incredible performance in ‘Till,’ is set to star in a new sci-fi thriller called ‘Parallel’ alongside brothers Aldis and Edwin Hodge. The film is a remake of the Chinese movie Parallel Forest and will be directed by Kourosh Ahari. In addition to starring in the movie, Deadwyler will also be an executive producer.

Deadwyler's character in the film, Vanessa, is a woman grieving the loss of her child who finds herself navigating between parallel spaces. While on a retreat with her husband and brother-in-law, Vanessa faces the threat of self-destruction in order to regain the life she knew before her loss. The parallel gates may hold the key to releasing her grief or trapping her forever.

The script for Parallel was written by both Edwin and Aldis Hodge, along with Jonathan Keasey. The Hodge brothers will also produce the film through their company Hodge Brothers Productions, alongside Sean Lydiard and Jaylen Moore of Rumble Riot, as well as Keasey and Ann Zhang of Beijing Pu Luo Media Co. Zhang produced the original film.

In addition to Deadwyler, Parallel will be executive produced by Elliott Michael Smith and RJ Collins of Rumble Riot, Richie Doyle of Fremont Films, Alex Bretow of Mammoth Pictures, Lei Zheng and Chengxi Li at Beijing Pu Luo Media Co, Randall J. Bacon, Dean Scheske, Joseph Lanius, Danny R. Carmona, and Jovanna Burke.

Deadwyler has a lot on her plate, she was originally cast as the lead in J.J. Abrams' Demimonde, the HBO Max series was canceled before filming began due to budget constraints.
