Courtney A. Kemp’s Netflix Series ‘Nemesis’ To Star Matthew Law, Y’Ian Noel, And Cleopatra Coleman
Emmy-nominated writer, producer, and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp is developing a new Netflix crime drama series, ‘Nemesis,’ in collaboration with writer and producer Tani Marole. The forthcoming series is part of Kemp’s exciting overall deal with Netflix. Matthew Law, Y’lan Noel, and Cleopatra Coleman are set to star in this crime drama which tells the story of two men on opposite sides of the law. An unshakeable police detective attempts to bring down a criminal mastermind, setting the stage for a suspenseful battle of wits and will. The forthcoming series is reportedly set to subvert the typical heist genre.
Additional cast members include Tre Hale, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, and Domenick Lombardozzi.
Kemp shares her excitement for the series, stating, “Tani and I are excited to bring a hard-hitting psychological crime drama to Netflix, specific in location, but broad in universal themes of right and wrong, love and loss, and loyalty vs self-preservation.”
Courtney A. Kemp is best known for creating and producing the hit STARZ series Power (2014- 2020) alongside rapper, actor, and producer 50 Cent. She also produced Power Book II: Ghost (2020- 2024), and served as executive producers for Power Book III: Raising Kanan (2021) and Power Book IV: Force (2022- 2024). Previously, Kemp served as a staff writer on the highly acclaimed series The Bernie Mac Show (2001–2006) and on ABC's Eli Stone (2008–2009). She has also written for CBS’s The Good Wife (2009–2016) and The CW’s Beauty and the Beast (2012–2016), and has served as both a producer and writer on Hawaii 5-0 (2010–2020).
Matthew Law, Y’Ian Noel, and Cleopatra Coleman are known for their roles in popular TV shows and films. Law starred in hit TV series including Tyler Perry’s The Oval (2019- 2025), Ahsoka (2023), Based on a True Story (2024), and he most recently stars in Hulu’s Abbott Elementary (2021- 2025). Noel famously starred in Issa Rae’s Insecure (2016- 2021), The Hustle (2013), and The First Purge (2018). Coleman starred in In the Shadow of the Moon (2019), The Last Man on Earth (2018), and parts one and two of Rebel Moon (2023 & 2024).
