Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kiki Layne, And More Reprise Thier Roles In ‘The Old Guard 2’ Starring Charlize Theron

Calling all fans of ‘The Old Guard’! The sequel to the highly anticipated movie has a new release date for this summer. ‘The Old Guard 2’ is coming to Netflix July 2, 2025, delivering another thrilling, high-stakes storyline that will keep fans hooked until the very end. In this sequel, Andy (Charlize Theron) and her team of immortal warriors face a relentless new threat to their existence. As they fight to protect their kind, the unexpected return of a long-lost immortal complicates their mission and forces them to confront the past while defending humanity’s future.

Graphic novelist and screenwriter Greg Rucka returns to ‘The Old Guard’ universe to write the screenplay for the sequel, with both films adapted from his comic book series of the same name. Charlize Theron (Andy), Chiwetel Ejiofor (James Copley), KiKi Layne (Nile), Veronica Ngô (Quỳnh), Marwan Kenzari (Joe), Luca Marinelli (Nicky), and Matthias Schoenaerts (Booker) reprise their roles in the long-awaited summer release, joined by newcomers Uma Thurman and Henry Golding. ‘The Old Guard 2’ is directed by renowned actress, producer, and director Victoria Mahoney. Producers for this project include David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger (Skydance); Charlize Theron, Beth Kono, and AJ Dix (Denver and Delilah Productions); Marc Evans (Marc Evans Productions); and Gina Prince-Bythewood who served as director for the first film.

‘The Old Guard’ premiered on Netflix in 2020 and quickly swept viewers by storm. It remains one of the most-watched movies on the streaming platform, reportedly reaching 186 million views within 28 days of release. In the first installment, the immortal mercenaries fight to protect their freedom after their self-healing abilities are discovered. This action-packed film left fans eagerly awaiting the sequel for five years.
