Tyrese Gibson And Ray Liotta Star In New Film ‘1992’ In Theaters August 30th

1992 was a year marked by vociferous chaos following the “not guilty” verdict for the Rodney King beating. Writer/ Producer Sascha Penn and Director Ariel Vromen capture this mayhem entangled in the intimacy of the life of Mercer (Tyrese Gibson) in their new film ‘1992,’ set in South Central Los Angeles. The film shows two father-son duos—Mercer (Tyrese Gibson) & Antoine (Christopher Ammanuel) and Lowell (Ray Liotta) & Riggin Bigby (Scott Eastwood)—who attempt to create better lives for themselves amidst an atmosphere ravaged by the crackling of arson fire and protests against police brutality.

In the trailer, the two father-son duos cross paths at the intersection of chaos, desperation, and oppositional attempts at survival. Mercer takes Antoine to the Pluton Metals factory where he works to avoid the post-verdict uprisings. Simultaneously, Lowell, Riggin, and their entourage seize the moment and attempt to rob the factory of $10 million worth of platinum to fund a better life for themselves.

But when Mercer challenges their robbery attempt in protection of his son, what will it cost him to stop another desperate father’s means of survival?

‘1992’ is an incredible story that documents the lengths fathers will go to protect their sons in the face danger. The film is partially inspired by real-life events, and it continues Gibson’s acting legacy as a protective father since his iconic role in the 2006 movie ‘Waist Deep.’

‘1992’ in theaters August 30th.
