The Legendary Angela Bassett Wins Her First Emmy Award

Congratulations are in order for the legendary and multi-talented actress, Angela Bassett. Bassett won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Narrator for the National Geographic documentary series ‘Queens,’ where she is also credited as one of the executive producers. This recent award is an addition to her honors archive that includes two Critics’ Choice Awards, 16 NAACP Image Awards, five Black Reel Awards, a BET Award, a SAG Award, two Golden Globe Awards, and her Honorary Academy Award among others. Bassett has proven time and again that she is an incredible force within the Film/ Entertainment Industry, and we are all fortunate to witness her legacy.

Throughout her nearly four decades-long career, Angela Bassett has brought integrity, care, and exceptionalism to her characters. She has transformed and inserted their respective films within the landscape of cultural iconography. Whether playing Reva Styles in the 1991 classic ‘Boyz N the Hood,’ performing as the electrifying Tina Turner in ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It,’ setting the screen ablaze in the 1995 eponymous film adaptation ‘Waiting to Exhale,’ or serving regality in her roles as Queen Ramonda in the ‘Black Panther’ films, Bassett has consistently demonstrated the mastery of her craft and inspired actors for generations.

TheBlkScript is incredibly proud to highlight this latest achievement and celebrate a phenomenal woman whose work we deeply admire and respect.

Congratulations Angela Bassett!
