Sophie Wilde Signs To WME; Sundance Breakout Star Of ‘Talk To Me’ Horror Film
Australian actress Sophie Wilde is making waves in the entertainment industry after being signed by WME. Wilde recently starred in the Sundance horror film Talk to Me, directed by Danny and Michael Philippou. The movie was showcased in the festival’s Midnight section and was later acquired by A24 for a theatrical release on July 28.
In Talk to Me, Wilde plays a character who, along with her friends, discovers how to summon spirits using an embalmed hand. They become addicted to the new thrill until one of them goes too far and unleashes terrifying supernatural forces.
Wilde has been busy with several other projects as well. She recently wrapped up filming for The Portable Door, a movie produced by the Jim Henson Company, which is set to release on April 7. In addition, Wilde will be starring in the lead role in The F**k It Bucket for Netflix, which is scheduled to premiere later this year. She has also finished filming for the limited series Boy Swallows Universe for Netflix Australia, in which she stars opposite Travis Fimmel and Simon Baker.
Wilde hails from Australia and graduated from NIDA in 2019. She made her stage debut at The Sydney Opera House, playing Ophelia in Bell Shakespeare’s Hamlet. She went on to book the lead role in Eden, a six-part series directed by John Curran and Mirrah Foulkes for Stan. Wilde has also starred in the BBC drama You Don’t Know Me opposite Samuel Adewunmi and in Tom Jones, set to be released on PBS in the U.S. on April 30 and on ITV in the UK later this year.
Despite her growing success, Wilde remains represented by Hamilton Hodell in the UK and Independent Management Company in Australia. Keep an eye out for this rising star as she continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry.
