Scott Mescudi And The Lucas Brothers Team Up On Zombie Action Comedy ‘Hell Naw’ At Sony; Produced By Sam Levinson
Sony Pictures has just announced that it has acquired the upcoming action/horror/comedy movie, ‘Hell Naw.’ The film will feature the talented musician and actor, Scott Mescudi, known as Kid Cudi, in the lead role, while the script will be penned by Academy Award nominees Keith & Kenny Lucas. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson will produce the film along with Mescudi and his partners Karina Manashil and Dennis Cummings under their banner Mad Solar. Sam and Ashley Levinson will also produce the film through their production company, Little Lamb, alongside BRON and H. Wood Films.
The plot of the movie is currently under wraps, but we do know that it will take place during Paris Fashion Week and feature zombies. The project has been in development for five years and Mescudi is very excited to finally bring it to life. "This movie has been 5 years in the making. I am telling the world now, this film will f*** you up in all the best ways," he said. "Sam, The Lucas Bros and myself have really crafted a tale we feel everyone who’s a fan of horror and comedy will enjoy. You will laugh, oh yes you will, but the horror aspect of this movie will really be something to see. You will be shook. I promise."
For Mescudi, Hell Naw marks a major star vehicle, as he has also recently been announced to join the highly anticipated Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off series Knuckles. He will also star in the John Woo action pic Silent Night. He is represented by WME.
Levinson, on the other hand, recently won the DGA award for best directing for drama series on Euphoria and also has his HBO series The Idol coming out this summer, starring the Weeknd and Lily Rose-Depp. He is represented by WME and Novo Entertainment.
The Lucas Brothers, who received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay for Judas and the Black Messiah, will write the script for Hell Naw. They are represented by UTA and Fourth Wall Management.
With such an impressive lineup of talent attached to the project, we can't wait to see what Hell Naw has in store for us. The combination of horror and comedy is always a tricky one to pull off, but with Mescudi and The Lucas Bros at the helm, we're sure it's going to be one wild ride.
