Onyx Collective has announced the new cast for the upcoming Hulu comedy pilot "1266" starring Gabourey Sidibe. Karim Diané, Kristin Dodson, and Kassandra Lee Diaz are joining the series as leads alongside Sidibe. The pilot, produced by 20th Television, follows the story of Gabby Brixton (Sidibe), who finds herself fired from her job and ends up working as a phone sex operator. This initially seems like an easy way to make money, but soon Gabby discovers a new world, meets the women who become her chosen family, and learns how powerful her voice can be.
Karim Diané will be playing the role of Posh, a student at the New York Institute of Fashion and Gabby's best friend. Posh is the favorite of everyone, and he doesn't hesitate to call Gabby out on her B.S. Kristin Dodson will portray Jimmy, the youngest phone sex worker at Imagine Inc., who is always ready to make mistakes and have fun. Kassandra Lee Diaz will play Fi, an Afro-Latina queer woman who is quiet yet fiery and doesn't suffer fools.
The show is inspired by Gabourey Sidibe's real-life experience, and she is executive producing alongside Thembi Banks, Steven Canals, and Julie Bean. Banks and Bean will be co-showrunners, with Banks also writing the teleplay and directing the pilot. If the pilot is picked up to series, Anna Maria Horsford, Tisha Campbell, and Judy Reyes will recur.
Overall, "1266" promises to be an exciting and innovative show that showcases a diverse cast and explores important themes like identity, friendship, and the power of finding one's voice. The show is set to be a standout addition to Hulu's comedy lineup and is sure to generate lots of buzz and excitement among viewers.
