Marlon Wayans To Star In Psychological Horror Pic ‘Goat’ For Universal And Monkeypaw With Justin Tipping Directing

In a thrilling collaboration between Universal Pictures and Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw banner, the upcoming sports horror film "Goat" has secured its leading man. Marlon Wayans is set to take center stage in this unique project, directed by Justin Tipping. The film, produced by Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson, boasts executive producers David Kern and Kate Oh.

Based on a compelling spec by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, "Goat" revolves around a promising young athlete who receives an invitation to train with a retiring star of a team. While the casting process involved screen testing for the young athlete role, sources reveal that Wayans was always the top choice for the coveted role of the greatest-of-all-time athlete.

Universal's EVP Production Development Sara Scott and Director of Development Tony Ducret will oversee the project, showcasing their confidence in Wayans' ability to bring the character to life. Wayans, who reached a career milestone with his first stand-up comedy special, "Woke-ish," on Netflix in 2018, has since continued to impress with his third comedy special for HBO Max, titled "Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me," released last March.

In addition to his successful stand-up career, Wayans had a noteworthy stint guest-hosting a week of "The Daily Show" in March 2023. On the big screen, he recently starred as George Raveling in Prime Video's "Air," alongside Matt Damon, Viola Davis, and Ben Affleck. His diverse filmography includes projects like Netflix's "The Curse of Bridge Hollow," MGM's "Respect," and Sofia Coppola's Apple-A24 movie "On the Rocks."

Director Justin Tipping, a rising star in the industry, gained recognition with his debut feature "Kicks," produced by Animal Kingdom and released by Focus Features. His television credits include "Black Monday," "The Chi," "Flatbush Misdemeanors," "Joe Vs Carole," and "Dear White People."

Marlon Wayans is represented by 3 Arts, WME, and Kevin Yorn / Ryan Goodell at Morris Yorn, while Justin Tipping is represented by UTA, Grandview, and Ziffren Brittenham. Jordan Peele is represented by CAA and Jared Levine, rounding out the impressive team behind this much-anticipated sports horror film. Get ready for an exhilarating cinematic experience as "Goat" promises to deliver a gripping narrative with Marlon Wayans at the helm.
