Jordan Peele Talks About His Fourth Feature Possibly Being His Personal “Favorite”
In a recent episode of the podcast "Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend," acclaimed filmmaker Jordan Peele dropped intriguing hints about his upcoming fourth directorial project. Originally scheduled for release on Christmas Day 2024 by Universal Pictures, the film faced an unexpected setback due to strikes, prompting its removal from the release calendar.
Reflecting on the challenges of the past year, Peele shared insights during his conversation with host Conan O’Brien. The director described the past year as "interesting" and revealed that the six-month double strike from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) had put him in a "state of listening."
Despite the setbacks, Peele expressed excitement about his next project, stating, "I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I'm psyched that I have another film that could be my favorite movie if I make it right."
Details regarding the storyline and cast of Peele's upcoming film remain shrouded in secrecy, a characteristic trait of the filmmaker. Two projects from his production company, Monkeypaw Productions, were affected by the release calendar adjustments. One of them, a horror thriller produced by Peele, was initially slated for release on September 27, 2024, but has since been overshadowed by Lionsgate's Saw XI, set to hit theaters on the same date. The other film, under Peele's direction, was originally planned for a Christmas Day 2023 release but has been replaced by Robert Eggers' highly anticipated Nosferatu, distributed by Universal's indie label Focus Features.
Jordan Peele gained recognition as a filmmaker with his Oscar-winning debut, "Get Out," and continued his success with the alien invasion thriller "Nope," which grossed over $171 million worldwide after its release in July 2022. Peele's directorial portfolio also includes the critically acclaimed horror film "Us," starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke.
As Peele navigates the challenges posed by strikes and calendar adjustments, fans eagerly await more details about his upcoming project, hoping it will live up to the high expectations set by his previous cinematic endeavors.
