Jasmine Cephas Jones Latest To Join ‘Lanterns’ DC Series At HBO
Jasmine Cephas Jones (Origin, Blindspotting) has officially joined the cast of HBO's upcoming drama series, Lanterns, based on DC's Green Lantern comic. She joins a lineup that includes Kyle Chandler, Aaron Pierre, Kelly MacDonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen.
The series follows John Stewart (Pierre), a rookie Lantern, and Hal Jordan (Chandler), a seasoned veteran, as they investigate a dark murder mystery in America's heartland. Cephas Jones takes on the pivotal role of Young Bernadette, Stewart's strong-willed mother known for her resilience and sharp perspective.
Lanterns is an eight-episode series produced by HBO in collaboration with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Chris Mundy serves as showrunner, with Damon Lindelof and Tom King co-writing and executive producing. James Hawes directed and executive produced, alongside Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov.
Cephas Jones is widely recognized for her Emmy-winning performance in #FREERAYSHAWN and her Grammy-winning work on Hamilton. She also received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her role in Blindspotting and starred in Origin. Beyond acting, her debut album Phoenix is available on all streaming platforms. She also voices "Swan" on the Warriors concept album by Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis.
