Grantham Coleman Joins David Oyelowo In ‘Bass Reeves’ Series For Paramount+
Grantham Coleman has landed a role in the upcoming limited series ‘Bass Reeves’ on Paramount+. The show, which is currently being produced in Texas, is executive produced by and stars David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves, the greatest frontier hero in American history. Reeves worked as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory after the Reconstruction era and captured over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded. Coleman will join the series as Edwin Jones, a persuasive man with a clear vision and a promise for the future.
The show also stars Lauren E. Banks, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper as series regulars, and Dennis Quaid as a recurring character. Bass Reeves is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions, and Oyelowo’s Yoruba Saxon. The series is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Chad Feehan, David C. Glasser, David Oyelowo, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Christina Alexandra Voros, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin.
Coleman has a growing body of work in theater and film. He recently appeared in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Oscar-nominated Netflix feature ‘Bardo’ and wrapped production on the anticipated George C. Wolfe drama Rustin. The actor previously starred in Benedict Andrews’ drama ‘Seberg’ alongside Kristen Stewart, in which he played Black Panther Party co-founder Bobby Seale. He has also appeared in acclaimed films such as ‘Black Bear’ and Hulu’s miniseries ‘11.22.63.’ Coleman is a Juilliard graduate from Houston and is represented by APA and Inspire Entertainment.
