Djimon Hounsou And Lauren LaVera Star In Upcoming Horror Film ‘The Monster’
Paramount’s Republic Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to the horror thriller The Monster, a film that promises chills and an all-star cast. Starring Djimon Hounsou (A Quiet Place: Day One), Lauren LaVera (Terrifier), and Mia Healey (The Wilds), the movie is currently in production in Danbury, Connecticut.
Joining the cast are notable names such as Gina Philips (Jeepers Creepers), marking her first on-screen role in eight years, rapper Jacob Lukas Anderson (known as “Prof”) in his acting debut, Alicia Witt (Dune), and Neal McDonough (Band of Brothers).
Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, known for his work on four Saw films, The Monster is written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Unsane). The project is being produced by Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road), along with longtime Saw producer Mark Burg. Lukas Behnken serves as the executive producer, with Jonathan M. Black and Lauren Black as co-producers.
The film centers on two millennials who run a lucrative scam by leasing high-end New York apartments they don’t own to unsuspecting tenants. Their scheme takes a horrifying turn when they encounter an apartment owner harboring a sinister secret, turning the tables in ways they never imagined.
Rounding out the ensemble cast are Michael Lombardi, David Call, Victor Del Rio, Cedric Benjamin, Zac Jaffee, Renés Rivera, Hari Bhaskar, and Kristina Krasniqi.
