Denzel Washington Confirms Two More Equalizer Films Are Coming
Denzel Washington has revealed plans for not one, but two more installments in the series. While many believed The Equalizer 3 marked the end of Robert McCall's story, Washington confirmed otherwise in an interview with Esquire.
“I told them I would do another Equalizer, and we’re doing four and five,” Washington shared, signaling the continuation of the action-packed saga. Known for its gripping fight sequences and McCall's unique ability—dubbed “Equalizer Vision,” which allows him to assess a room’s threats in seconds—the franchise has been a massive box-office success. Both The Equalizer 2 and The Equalizer 3 grossed $190 million each, and it seems Washington isn’t ready to retire his vigilante alter ego just yet.
“People love those daggone Equalizers,” he added, reflecting on the series' enduring popularity. “These films are for the people. They want me to get the bad guys. And I say, ‘Okay, I’ll get them! Just wait right there.’”
Although no release dates have been announced for the fourth and fifth films, fans can likely expect director Antoine Fuqua to return, given his integral role in shaping the franchise. While The Equalizer 3 saw McCall settling into a peaceful retirement, it seems another mission is inevitable.
