‘Bel-Air’ Renewed For Fourth And Final Season By Peacock

The hit Peacock series Bel-Air, a reimagining of the iconic ‘90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, is set to conclude with its upcoming fourth season. The final chapter will feature eight episodes, a slight reduction from the ten episodes seen in its previous seasons.

This announcement comes three months after the Season 3 finale, which aired on September 5. Sources indicate that behind-the-scenes budget discussions contributed to the renewal delay. Unlike its prior renewal before the Season 2 finale, the decision this time came later.

When Bel-Air was introduced in 2020, it was a game-changer for Peacock, helping solidify the streaming platform as a contender in original programming. Inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral four-minute spec trailer, Peacock made a bold move by greenlighting the drama for two seasons right from the start. The series became Peacock’s first significant hit, blending modern-day drama with nostalgic elements of the beloved original.

Jabari Banks leads the ensemble cast as Will, the role originally made famous by Will Smith. The cast also includes Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Coco Jones, Olly Sholotan, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones.

Carla Banks Waddles, who joined the series as a writer from the beginning, took over as showrunner in Season 2 and has continued in this role. She serves as an executive producer alongside Morgan Cooper, Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and others. The series is produced by Universal Television and Westbrook Studios, a division of Westbrook Inc., founded by Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith.

Over its run, Bel-Air has welcomed numerous guest stars, including former Fresh Prince cast members Tatyana Ali, Joseph Marcell, Vernee Watson-Johnson, and Daphne Maxwell Reid. Other notable appearances include Marlon Wayans, Saweetie, Dulé Hill, Andra Day, and Bianca Belair, among others, adding star power to the series' strong foundation.

As Bel-Air prepares for its final season, it leaves behind a legacy as a modern-day twist on a cultural classic. While fans will soon say goodbye to the Banks family, the impact of this reimagined tale will continue to resonate as a milestone in contemporary television.
