Tiffany Yancey On Writing "Black Girl, Erupted" For BET Her, Writing Tips & More | Blk Conversations
Tiffany Yancey is an award winning actress, screenwriter and producer with over 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry. She is a Philadelphia native and graduate of Temple University with a B.A. in Communications. After relocating to the Washington, D.C. area in 1999, she caught the acting bug and began performing in numerous stage, commercial and independent film productions throughout the metropolitan area.
After many years of honing her acting skills, she decided she wanted to take her career in her own hands. She started learning how to write screenplays in 2012 and produced her first film, “Love Him Or Leave Him” in 2013. The film went onto receive the “Best Comedic Feature” award at the Urban Media Film Makers Festival in 2015 and “Best Score” at the Philadelphia Film Awards in 2016. It’s currently streaming on the Tubi Network.
Her next film, “Holiday Heartbreak” is a hilarious Christmas comedy, that was produced by Mega Mind Media and aired on BET in December 2020 to rave reviews. It was recognized as “Movie of The Week” by the iconic publication, Ebony magazine. It also received multiple nominations at the HAPA awards in 2021 and won for “Best Actress” by Maryam Basir.
Tiffany’s current project, “Black Girl, Erupted” was produced by Mega Mind Media for the BET Her Mental Health Initiative and will premiere in July 2023 on the BET Her network. Upcoming projects include, “Money Maker, “There’s A New Santa In Town” and “That’s Her” starring superstar comedian, Kountry Wayne.
Tiffany rebranded her production/ company, “A.T. Yancey Entertainment LLC” in 2020 and is in the process of developing her own film and TV projects. She also just became an Adjunct Professor teaching screenwriting at Bowie State University. In this capacity, she enjoys sharing her knowledge and experience in order to uplift and inspire the next generation of writers.
