The Newlyweds: Blood at the Altar is a short film that combines the genres of horror, romance, and action. The concept for the film, written and created by 89 writers Lucien & Byrd, came from the idea of love conquering all, even in the worst of times. The filmmakers wanted to test a black power couple's love in the face of a zombie apocalypse at a wedding in Florida. The cast and crew, including actors Latoya Tonodeo and Arlen Escarpeta, were chosen based on their talent and their belief in the project. The goal of 89 Writers, the production company behind the film, is to continue telling stories on a high level and to empower the next generation of storytellers.
