Watch: New Trailer For Tyler Perry’s ‘The Six Triple Eight’ Starring Kerry Washington Released

Netflix has released a teaser for Tyler Perry’s upcoming WWII drama, The Six Triple Eight, starring Kerry Washington. The film will hit select theaters on December 6 and be available on Netflix starting December 20.

Inspired by Kevin M. Hymel’s article “Fighting A Two-Front War,” the movie tells the story of the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, the only all-Black Women’s Army Corps unit to serve overseas during WWII. Despite facing racism, sexism, and harsh conditions, these women played a vital role in boosting morale by ensuring soldiers received their long-delayed mail.

Kerry Washington stars as Major Charity Adams, the commanding officer of the unit. The ensemble cast includes Ebony Obsidian, Milauna Jackson, Kylie Jefferson, Shanice Shantay, Sarah Jeffery, Pepi Sonuga, Moriah Brown, Jeanté Godlock, Susan Sarandon, Dean Norris, Sam Waterston, and Oprah Winfrey.

Tyler Perry wrote and directed the film, with Nicole Avant, Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, Keri Selig, and Carlota Espinosa serving as producers. Washington and Peter Guber are executive producers, while Diane Warren wrote the original song "The Journey," performed by H.E.R.
