Renowned filmmaker Tyler Perry has recently joined forces with Amazon Studios to bring his latest creation, "Black, White & Blue," to the big screen. This exciting project marks the beginning of a four-feature film deal Perry signed with the streaming giant in November. In this blog post, we'll delve into the details of the movie's plot, cast, and Tyler Perry's remarkable career in the entertainment industry.
Written, directed, and produced by Tyler Perry himself, "Black, White & Blue" centers around the protagonist, Fela Blackburn, whose life is forever changed when her husband, Rodney Blackburn, tragically falls victim to police brutality. Determined to uncover the truth and seek justice, Fela leans on her best friend, Marley Wells, a lawyer, and her husband, Tony Wells, a former cop turned private investigator. Together, they use their connections and influence to dig deeper into the incident. However, as the layers of deception unravel, Fela discovers that her entire world is built upon lies and betrayal.
The cast of "Black, White & Blue" boasts a talented lineup of actors. Kat Graham, known for her role in "The Vampire Diaries," takes on a significant role in the movie. Joining her are Tyler Lepley from "Harlem," Meagan Tandy from "Batwoman," Josh Adeyeye from "Ruthless," RonReaco Lee from "First Wives Club," Jimi Stanton from "Your Honor," Shannon LaNier from "God's Not Dead 3," and Nick Barrotta from "The Oval." Their combined talents promise to bring the characters to life and deliver a captivating on-screen experience.
In addition to Tyler Perry's involvement through Tyler Perry Studios, the production team behind "Black, White & Blue" includes Angi Bones and Will Areu, also from Tyler Perry Studios, and Jamall Ellzy. Perry's previous three movies, "A Jazzman's Blues," "A Madea Homecoming," and "A Fall From Grace," were released by Netflix. Notably, "A Fall From Grace" attracted 26 million viewers in its first week on the platform, while "A Madea Homecoming" became the twelfth installment in the beloved franchise. Perry's film "A Jazzman's Blues" made its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in the previous year, based on a script Perry wrote 27 years ago. Currently, Perry is also working on his fourth movie at Netflix, "Six Triple Eight," which tells the compelling story of the 6888th battalion, the only all-black, all-female troop during World War II.
Tyler Perry's films have garnered immense success at the global box office, accumulating over $1.08 billion in revenue. His ability to captivate audiences with his unique storytelling and diverse range of characters has cemented his position as a prolific filmmaker in the industry.
