Selena Gomez And Jordan Peele Developing Series Adaptation of ‘Coyotes’ For Prime Video

L to R: Selena Gomez, Jordan Peele

Published by Image Comics and featuring artwork from Caitlin Yarsky, Coyotes is described as Kill Bill meets The Last of Us, and is set in the City of Lost Girls, a border town in the desert where women are mysteriously going missing. Officer Frank Coffey is trying to get to the bottom of this when he meets Red, a little girl with a katana blade and a mission: murder the Werewolves stalking the border picking women off one by one. When it’s discovered that the Wolves are the men of these villages, both Red and Officer Coffey are thrown together in a thriller of mythic proportions with the lives of their friends and loved ones in the balance.

Selena Gomez is attached as an executive producer on the series, while Jordan Peele will be involved under his Monkeypaw Productions banner. Sean Lewis is also involved as an executive producer. There are currently no plans for Gomez to appear in the series, although the series is still in early development and the casting process has yet to begin. The series has been in development for a few months now but is currently paused due to the 2023 Writers Strike.

Gomez can next be seen in season 3 of acclaimed Hulu series Only Murders in the Building and Jacques Audiard‘s Emilia Perez, which is currently filming. She is also attached as a producer to a series reboot of 1984 rom-com 16 Candles, as well as a remake of 1988 classic Working Girl.

Peele released this third feature, the critically acclaimed Nope, last year, and is currently developing his fourth feature, set to be released on December 25, 2024. He’s also attached as a producer to an upcoming remake of The People Under the Stairs, as well as supernatural feature Sinkhole starring Issa Rae.
