Roku Expands Its Roku Originals In Spanish With Jennifer Lopez, Jaime Camil, And Juanpa Zurita

L to R: Jennifer Lopez, Jaime Camil, Juanpa Zurita

Roku has announced the expansion of its Roku Originals in Spanish with new programming featuring Jennifer Lopez, Jaime Camil, and Juanpa Zurita. The streaming service is doubling down on its efforts to provide culturally relevant programming to Spanish-speaking audiences in the US and Mexico.

Lopez's "Thanks a Million" is returning for a third season as "Un Millón de Gracias" and will be shot entirely in Spanish. The show will feature 10 celebrities who will give away $100,000 to someone who has inspired them. Among the celebrity guests are Chiquis, Gina Torres, Jaime Camil, Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, Lauren Jauregui, Michael Peña, Michelle Rodriguez, Pau Gasol, Sofia Reyes, and Wilmer Valderrama.

Camil will be narrating and executive producing "Desde La Raíz," which will explore the origins of Mexican products like coffee, chile, corn, and mezcal. Meanwhile, social media star Zurita will be facing challenges in each episode of "Carpe DM with Juanpa" as he pushes his body and mind to the limit across the United States.

According to David Eilenberg, Head of Content at Roku Media, the strong engagement of Spanish-language content on The Roku Channel in the US, as well as the exceptional growth of the service in Mexico, shows the strong appetite for free ad-supported streaming among Spanish-speaking and bilingual audiences.

Roku is committed to delivering high-quality, culturally relevant original programming to tens of millions of viewers. The Roku Channel launched Espacio Latino in June 2022 to help users find Spanish-language content. Existing Roku Originals titles are available for audiences to watch in Spanish and are very popular with users.

In the second half of last year, Roku’s Spanish-language Roku Originals made Roku a top-three Spanish-language content provider by reach on The Roku Channel. Since its launch in Mexico in October 2022, The Roku Channel has quickly become Roku’s largest international market.

Roku's expansion of its Spanish-language programming is a welcome move that recognizes the growing demand for culturally relevant content among Spanish-speaking audiences. With new original programming featuring top talent, Roku is poised to become a leading provider of Spanish-language content in the US and beyond.
