Renée Elise Goldsberry, Yara Shahidi, Keith Powers, And Kedar Williams-Stirling To Star in New Romance Film ‘Bloom’
This one is for the lovers! ‘Bloom,’ the forthcoming feature debut by screenwriter and director, Cole Swanson, is in discussions for a star-studded cast. Tony and Grammy Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry, NAACP Image Award winners Yara Shahidi and Keith Powers, and award-winning Kedar Williams-Stirling are all considered to star in the coming-of-age romance. This film is written and directed by Cole Swanson and produced by Dane Clarke II and Joel Poku of Pineloft Entertainment, along with Jolene Rodriguez from Broken English Productions. Skepta’s 1PLUS1 Productions and Andrew Strawford have reportedly been brought on board for music consulting.
‘Bloom’ is set in Tuscany, Italy and documents the journey of a profound Black artist named Ace (Kedar Williams-Stirling) who moves to central Italy on a scholarship for university. There, he maneuvers through a journey of self-discovery where he forms unexpected friendships and a burgeoning romance along the way. Ace’s journey takes place within a lavish social sphere of Black adults dubbed “The Casa Rosa Kids.” Among other themes, this film showcases wealth, Blackness, and a steamy love triangle, exploring the complexities of identity, desire, and power dynamics.
The star actors bring to the forefront a prolific set of performing acts that make ‘Bloom’ a highly anticipated film. Actress and singer Renée Elise Goldsberry is known for her roles in All About You (2001), Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway (2008), and Hamilton (2020) among others. Yara Shahidi stars in The Sun is Also a Star (2019), Black-ish (2014- 2022), Grown-ish (2018- 2024) and more. Keith Powers is known for his standout roles in Straight Outta Compton (2015), The Perfect Find (2023), and Uglies (2024), which is currently streaming on Netflix. Kedar Williams-Stirling stars in Shank (2010), Small Axe (2020), and Sex Education (2019- 2023).
