Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones, best known for her work on The Office and Parks and Recreation, is set to star in Searchlight Pictures' upcoming sci-fi drama, In the Blink of An Eye. The film will be directed by Andrew Stanton, who is moving into live-action after his success with animated classics WALL-E and Finding Nemo.

The film's script, written by Colby Day, focuses on three intersecting storylines that explore the entire history of the world and tackle life, love, hope, and connection. The film draws inspiration from cinematic touchstones such as Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, and Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia. Jones will play the role of an anthropology professor who is taking care of her dying mother. Kate McKinnon has also been cast in the film.

Jared Ian Goldman, who has previously worked on indie hits such as Ingrid Goes West and Russian Doll, will produce the film. Day will serve as an executive producer. The production will begin filming next week in Vancouver.

Stanton is no stranger to live-action, having directed the 2012 feature John Carter, as well as episodes of popular TV shows such as Better Call Saul, Stranger Things, and For All Mankind.

Jones has also established herself as a filmmaker, winning a Grammy for her work on the documentary Quincy, which focused on her father, music producer Quincy Jones. She has also written for films such as Toy Story 4 and Celeste and Jesse Forever, as well as an episode of Black Mirror.

Jones is represented by UTA and Schreck Rose. She recently starred in Sofia Coppola's On the Rocks opposite Bill Murray, and will next appear in the dystopian drama Silo and the dark comedy Sunny, both for Apple TV.

In the Blink of An Eye is shaping up to be an exciting project that will explore some big questions about life and the human experience. With Stanton at the helm and a talented cast and crew on board, it's sure to be a film worth watching.
