Power Book III: Raising Kanan To End With Season 5; Shameik Moore Added To The Cast As “Breeze” In Final Season

Starz has confirmed that Power Book III: Raising Kanan will conclude with its fifth season. The news came on the heels of the Season 4 finale, which also introduced a long-anticipated character from the original Power universe — Branford “Breeze” Frady, played by Shameik Moore.

Breeze, the nephew of street legends Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods), makes his debut in a tense meeting with Kanan Stark (MeKai Curtis), hinting at a partnership that directly connects this prequel to the original series. Fans have waited to see Breeze on screen since his name was first mentioned back in 2014. In the Power timeline, he was a major figure who mentored young Kanan, Ghost, and Tommy during their early days in Jamaica, Queens.

Moore shared his excitement about joining the franchise, calling it an honor to play such an iconic character. He hinted that Breeze will shake up the storyline in a big way during the final season.

Showrunner Sascha Penn confirmed the series was always intended to run five seasons and promises the upcoming episodes will deliver high stakes and a powerful conclusion for fans of the franchise.

Meanwhile, Power Book IV: Force is also set to end with its upcoming season, and Power Book II: Ghost wrapped after Season 4. While there’s no official word on what’s next, a new prequel titled Origins — set between Raising Kanan and the original Power series — is in development. If greenlit, it could explore the younger years of Ghost and Tommy, possibly continuing Breeze’s story.

All four seasons of Raising Kanan are now streaming on Starz.
