Michael B. Jordan Spearheading ‘Creed-Verse’ In Works At Amazon Across Film & TV

Michael B. Jordan: Creed III

Amazon's recent success with the latest Creed movie has led to talks of expanding the franchise into a larger universe, encompassing both film and TV. According to sources, there have been discussions with Creed star and filmmaker Michael B. Jordan about potential Creed-related projects for over a year. Plans for a larger universe have become more ambitious after Creed III's impressive opening.

Details are still scarce, but it seems that an anime series connected to the Rocky spinoff is in the works, along with a potential live-action TV series. There are also talks of a project centered on Adonis Creed's daughter, played by Mila Davis-Kent in Creed III.

In addition to the potential expansion of the Creed franchise, there has been discussion of a Drago spinoff movie at MGM. Written by Robert Lawton, the film would focus on Russian boxer Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) and his son Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), who was introduced in Creed II as Creed's opponent. While there has been talk of a potential series, sources indicate that the intention remains to keep it as a movie.

Michael B. Jordan has expressed enthusiasm for building the Creed universe, and through three movies, the franchise has grossed nearly half a billion dollars at the global box office. The expansion of the Creed universe could serve as a test case for Amazon's ambitions for MGM, which it acquired for $8.5 billion in 2022.

There have also been on-and-off discussions about exploring the story of the Rocky franchise's iconic boxer for years, and it is expected that Sylvester Stallone, the franchise's creator and star, will be involved if and when something comes together.

Amazon's acquisition of MGM has given the company access to a vast library of intellectual property, and the Creed universe could be the first of many new franchises to emerge from the partnership.
