M88 Signs ‘The Dropout’ And ‘Snowpiercer’ Director Erica Watson
M88, a talent agency founded in 2020 by Phillip Sun and Charles D. King, has recently signed renowned director Erica Watson. Watson is best known for directing the penultimate and final episodes of the award-winning Hulu miniseries, The Dropout, which depicts the story of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos, played by Amanda Seyfried.
Apart from The Dropout, Watson has directed two episodes of King Shaka, an epic drama series produced by Antoine Fuqua for CBS Studios. The show is expected to be shopped after being cut loose by Showtime. She has also directed episodes of many other popular TV series such as Snowpiercer, David Makes Man, Manifest, Gossip Girl, and many more.
Watson's work has received critical acclaim, and her short film, Roubado, has screened at numerous film festivals around the world. She graduated from the Sony Diversity Directing Program and was an artist-in-residence at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. She also received the Sundance Knight Fellowship in the same year and holds an MFA from USC's School of Cinematic Arts.
M88 represents actors, writers, and multi-hyphenates, and their recent signings include Woody McClain from Power Book II: Ghost, NBA star Jaylen Brown, filmmaker Walé Oyéjidé, and actor Siddiq Saunderson from Wu-Tang: An American Saga. They also recently signed TAO/S, the brother filmmakers, and Mike Guayo, the writer of Insecure and Ginny and Georgia.
