Edi Gathegi Joins Robert De Niro In Limited Series, ‘Zero Day’ For Netflix

Edi Gathegi

Edi Gathegi, known for his roles in TV shows like "For All Mankind" and films like "The Twilight Saga" and "X-Men: First Class," has been cast in a significant role in Netflix's upcoming limited series, "Zero Day." The six-episode conspiracy thriller features an impressive ensemble cast including Robert De Niro, Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, and Connie Britton.

Gathegi will be playing the character of Carl, an intense bureaucrat and loyalist to De Niro's former U.S President George Mullen. The series, produced under a deal between Netflix and Eric Newman's Grand Electric Productions, delves into the question of finding truth in a world gripped by crisis. As the world is seemingly torn apart by external forces beyond our control, the show explores the extent to which these forces are a result of our own actions or even our imagination in an era dominated by conspiracy theories and subterfuge.

At the heart of the story is De Niro's character, Mullen, a popular yet complex figure who is called out of retirement to lead an investigation into a global cyber-attack. "Zero Day" aims to captivate audiences with its exploration of truth and the intricate web of events surrounding the central mystery.

The executive producers of "Zero Day" include Eric Newman, Noah Oppenheim, Michael S. Schmidt, Robert De Niro, Jonathan Glickman, and Leslie Linka Glatter, who will also be directing all episodes of the series.

Gathegi's previous work on TV includes notable appearances in Apple TV+'s "For All Mankind," USA Network's "Briarpatch" alongside Rosario Dawson, Crackle's "StartUp," and TNT's "Proof." He has also been seen in NBC's "The Blacklist" and its spin-off series, "The Blacklist: Redemption." On the film front, Gathegi has made his mark with performances in movies like "The Harder They Fall," "The Twilight Saga," and "X-Men: First Class." Recently, he joined the cast of the sci-fi drama "Aporia" alongside Judy Greer and Payman Maadi.
