Courtney B. Vance To Join Cast Of Disney’s Live-Action Lilo & Stitch

Courtney B. Vance

Emmy and Tony-Award winning actor, Courtney B. Vance, has been confirmed to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, according to Deadline. Vance will take on the role of Cobra Bubbles, previously voiced by Ving Rhames in the 2002 animated film and subsequent TV projects.

The film, set to stream on Disney+, will be directed by Dean Fleischer Camp and written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, with a previous draft by Mike Van Waes. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce for Rideback, with Ryan Halprin serving as executive producer.

Aside from Vance, the cast will also feature Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die), Zach Galifianakis and newcomer Maia Kealoha who will play the role of Lilo. While it’s still unknown how the sequel’s plot will compare to the original animated film, the Hawaii-set story focused on the unlikely friendship between Lilo and Stitch, an alien experiment designed for destruction.

Vance, who is represented by UTA and Fox Rothschild, is a two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner for his roles in HBO’s Lovecraft Country and The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. His previous film credits include The Hunt for Red October, Dangerous Minds, and The Mummy, while his television work includes Genius: Aretha Franklin, 61st Street, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

As of writing, Disney has yet to release a statement regarding the casting announcement. Fans of the animated classic will surely be excited to see how the live-action adaptation will bring the beloved characters to life on the screen.
