Colman Domingo To Co-Chair 2025 Met Gala, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”

Emmy Award winner Colman Domingo, affectionately known as “Mr. Put That Sh*t On,” is one of the co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala happening just one week away! He serves as co-chair alongside Anna Wintour, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton, with LeBron James joining as Honorary Chair of the committee.

This year's exhibition, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” pays homage to Black dandyism—a sartorial movement and political statement led by Black people (especially men) that emerged during the 18th century to reimagine European-inspired menswear as a creative tool for resilience, self-expression, and new identity-making. This exhibition is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book, ‘Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity,’ and also features her as a guest curator.

As Vogue reports, this year’s exhibition dress code is “Tailored for You,” and the event will “explore the role of sartorial style in forming Black identities, focusing on the emergence, significance, and proliferation of the Black dandy.”

Vogue has chosen the perfect person to co-chair this year’s committee. As a celebrated actor and fashion icon, Colman Domingo’s jaw-dropping and eclectic style embodies the spirit of Black dandyism, with fine tailoring, enthralling colors, show-stopping expressions, and cultural significance woven into every stitch, crease, and flare.
