Chuck Hayward Set To Scribe The Upcoming TV Series ‘Boys Come First’ For Amazon Studios
Amazon Studios has announced that it has acquired the rights to debut novel, "Boys Come First," and plans to develop it into a television series. The show's pilot will be written by Chuck Hayward, co-executive producer of the popular Apple TV+ series "Ted Lasso." Along with Field Trip, Amazon Studios' co-founders Will Graham and Hailey Wierengo will executive produce the show, while Hayward is also in discussions to serve as showrunner.
The novel, which was published by Belt Publishing in May of last year, is a humorously heartfelt story about three gay millennial Black men who are searching for love, navigating friendships, and pursuing professional success in contemporary Detroit.
Hayward is known for his work as a writer and co-executive producer on "Ted Lasso," as well as his contributions to hit series like "WandaVision," "Mixed-ish," "Flatbush Misdemeanors," and "Dear White People." He has also written the script for the upcoming Treehouse Pictures remake of the classic dark comedy "Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead."
Foley, a journalist and author from Detroit, is the author of "Boys Come First." His writing on Detroit, blackness, and queerness has appeared in several publications, including This American Life, Jalopnik, and The Atlantic.
Field Trip Productions, which was founded in 2017 by Graham and Wierengo, will produce the series. The company's first project was the GLAAD Media Award-nominated series "A League of Their Own," and its most recent hit limited series is "Daisy Jones & The Six," starring Riley Keough.
The show does not have a release date yet, but it is sure to be an exciting new addition to Amazon Studios' growing collection of original content.
