Chief Keef Documentary Set; Lyrical Lemonade And Khalabo Ink Society Partner As Producers
Chief Keef, one of the founding figures in drill music, is getting a documentary that will chronicle his rise and influence on the Chicago music scene. Directed by Cole Bennett, the film will delve into Keef’s career, including his early success, hiatus, and recent return to his hometown. Kenya Barris' Khalabo Ink Society is producing the project, in partnership with Bennett's Lyrical Lemonade.
The documentary will explore how Chicago shaped Keef’s life and music, while also highlighting his lasting impact on the city's culture and beyond. Producers include Lyrical Lemonade’s Jake Millan and Krista Worby, along with Khalabo Ink Society's Emilie Geneve and Idris Dykes.
Keef's previous documentary, The Story of Sosa: The Movie, was set to release through Apple Music in 2017 but was never completed.
Kenya Barris, known for creating Black-ish and its spinoffs, as well as films like Girls Trip and Coming 2 America, is producing alongside his team at Khalabo. Bennett, who gained recognition directing music videos for Chicago artists, recently released his debut album All Is Yellow through a collaboration with Lyrical Lemonade and Def Jam.
